Guardian's signup includes a membership fee, monthly administration fees, and a prudential requirement. This page summarizes the key items and asks you to acknowledge them before continuing.

Required acknowledgements

I understand there is a membership fee based on usage tier (and that one membership fee covers both services when combined).

I understand there are monthly administration fees per metered site.

How it works for participants

When you join Guardian Utilities, a prudential amount is collected and held as security to support the retailer's market payment obligations.
Guardian applies a 3% per year bill credit, credited monthly as a reduction on your Guardian Utilities bill.
The prudential amount is fully refundable if you choose to leave Guardian Utilities (subject to Guardian's terms).

Key items to understand

1) Membership fee

Charged based on usage tier. If you combine electricity + natural gas, only one membership fee applies.

Electricity

Monthly kWh ≤ 1,000: $6.95
Monthly kWh ≤ 2,500: $9.95
Monthly kWh > 2,500: $12.95

Natural gas

Annual GJ ≤ 90 GJ: $6.95
Annual GJ ≤ 150 GJ: $9.95
Annual GJ > 150 GJ: $12.95

If combining Electricity with Natural Gas, only one membership fee is required. 60% of this fee goes directly the Canmore Legacy fund.

2) Administration fees (monthly, per metered site)

Electricity: $6.45/month per metered site. Natural gas: $7.45/month per metered site. (Electricity over 1500 kWh/month may add $0.002/kWh.)
